Many discomforts of pregnancy can be alleviated with alfalfa tablets, including morning sickness, heartburn, constipation and anemia. Alfalfa tablets raise the level of Vitamin K, reduce postpartum bleeding, and increase the stores of vitamin K in newborns.

Alfalfa tablets support breast-feeding success, because they help increase and sustain milk supply. They help alleviate nausea, relieve constipation, and bring up red blood counts to prevent anemia. Another claimed benefit of Alfalfa tablets is that they reduce swelling and improve erratic blood sugar levels.
Warnings on Alfalfa:
Alfalfa tablets are very high in vitamin K and could be dangerous for those on blood thinners such as Heparin. If a urinary tract or diarrhea should occur, one should stop taking alfalfa tablets, at least temporarily.
People with a poor bowel flora may have temporary bouts of gas the first week or so when they start taking Alfalfa pills, so they should start gradually.
Research has found that diets high in canavanine, which is an amino acid found in Alfalfa, can aggravate lupus. However, canavanine is usually only found in the seeds and sprouts of alfalfa, not in mature leaves and alfalfa tea and capsules made from leaves are thus not expected to contain canavanine. Nevertheless, some experts recommend to avoid Alfalfa during pregnancy because of its potential canavanine content and hormonally active saponins. Please discuss taking any Alfalfa supplements with your physician.
