A food supplement is meant to support the natural function of the body and can be consumed to provide the body with nutrients, or to add to what has not been consumed in substantial amounts. Acai Berry supplement provides vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E, and minerals like magnesium, potassium and zinc. Acai berries also prove to be a great source of amino acids (Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9) and fibers.
The antioxidants, present in Acai Berry supplements help maintain a healthy nervous system and prevent arteriosclerosis. Other commonly mentioned health benefits of Acai Berry are improved eyesight and night vision, boost of energy and stamina, rejuvenation, slowed down aging, and enhanced digestion.
The Acai Berry comes in many forms. The fruit can be eaten fresh, but these berries only grow in Brazil and stay fresh only for 24 hours after harvesting. The commercial forms usually come in powder, extract or tea. Since the acai berry pulp has to be freeze dried first in order to make Acai powder, some of the natural content of the fruit will be destroyed in the process. Therefore the Acai powder (commonly used in capsules) will not be as effective as Acai extract or juice. Acai also comes in form of tea, which is said to have about twice the potency of the capsule, but half the cost of the extract.
